The series had huge success last year on BBC TWO. Featuring Raymond Blanc and nine couples who battled it out over eight weeks, the show is coming back for a second series.

Raymond Blanc will once again be giving couples the opportunity to try their luck as restaurateurs and seeing if they can rise to the challenges he throws at them. The stakes are high as the successful couple will go into business with Raymond and, as last years winners are finding out, this is an opportunity money just can't buy. After a nail biting final challenge in France in which Jeremy and Jane Hooper emerged the victors, they opened their Oxfordshire restaurant 'Eight at The Thatch' in November 2007 and are currently booked up 4 months in advance.

A brand new series for the BBC that searches the length and breadth of the country to find 'Britain's best home cook'. Each episode in the series will follow two home cooks, from different areas of the country, as they prepare, cook and then host a dinner party to which two of Britain's best known critics will be invited - our celebrity chef will also be on hand to give them helpful hints and tips as they prepare for culinary battle.

We're looking for enthusiastic, creative cooks to take part in the series - cooks with flair, passion and a genuine love of what they do, who enjoy nothing more than making the time to prepare and cook the perfect meal. We're not looking for professionally trained cooks with over-complicated recipes but rather home cooks who think that they've finally created the perfect recipe for lasagne or shepherd's pie and those cooks that are proud of their local specialties, cultural heritage or who simply love those recipes that have been handed down through their families over the years.

Critics Jay Rayner and Toby Young, who featured in the pilot of the show (which was shown in early January), will be sampling contestants' favourite recipes and, with any luck, offering kinder comments than a recent review of Jay's which described a batter 'as heavy and dense as a winter duvet'.
